Why Yuka can not rate some food products ?

julie.chapon@yuka.io Updated by julie.chapon@yuka.io

There are various types of products that Yuka does not rate because they are very specific products for which no rating method exists:

  • Alcohol
  • Sugar
  • Infant formula
  • Protein supplements
  • Pet food
  • Nutritional supplements

In addition, there are some food products that Yuka cannot rate for various reasons:

  • Products whose lists of ingredients are in a language other than English, Spanish or French.
  • Products sold by weight (cut-to-size products, deli foods, etc.) which have a specific bar code for weight that's not unique and does not allow the product to be identified.
  • Products with no nutritional value: nutritional values (calories, sugar, salt, protein, fiber, saturated fat) are essential for calculating scores.
